Wolves in general are very popular as a creature of total freedom. But in the older folklore wolves are also 'evil and hungry for blood' as i've read so far. The idea that a man or woman can be this creature can be the idea of ultimate freedom, but the other side is then that this creature is one of the night & is hungry for blood.

Like so many night creatures.

Helllo sweetheart ^'^

It's indead the idea of 'ultimate freedom' without limits that can make people afraid. There are no rules. And i think that is the reason why werecreatures are so into blood and murder.
