Anne Rice? The vampire chronicles. But out of them all I would have to say my two most favorite is The Queen of the damned the The Vampire Armand. Great stories in the series and the way it is wrote paints vivid images and thoughts.

I've only read two of her books; Interview with the Vampire and the Vampire Lestat. But both were very good and I'm going to work my way through the entire series.

The entire series is well worth the read actually, At least her vampires arent the frilly foo foo vampires like the ones in twilight, but to each there own I guess.
