Same here! I love that movie though, so I don't mind. ;)

Fireworks started here on the 3rd - I can see massive displays from my kitchen/room window. Kitchen one is bigger so I perched myself on my sofa arm yesterday and just watched the display that way. :P

Remember, remember, the 5th of November
The Gunpowder Treason and plot ;
I know of no reason why Gunpowder Treason
Should ever be forgot.
Guy Fawkes, Guy Fawkes,
'Twas his intent.
To blow up the King and the Parliament.
Three score barrels of powder below.
Poor old England to overthrow.
By God's providence he was catch'd,
With a dark lantern and burning match

Holloa boys, Holloa boys, let the bells ring
Holloa boys, Holloa boys, God save the King!

Hip hip Hoorah !
Hip hip Hoorah !

A penny loaf to feed ol'Pope,
A farthing cheese to choke him.
A pint of beer to rinse it down,
A faggot of sticks to burn him.
Burn him in a tub of tar,'
Burn him like a blazing star.
Burn his body from his head,
Then we'll say: ol'Pope is dead.
:S

Hehe..I never knew all the words. Only the first 4 lines. :P It's something every kid knows here, kind of like 'Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star'. We only ever learn a bit from childhood. :woohoo:

nursery rhymes about plague (RING AROUND THE THE ROSIE)
&
nursery rhymes about attempts to blow up/overthrow the government

...speaking of:

where did ROCK -A-BYE- BABY come from????

a baby in a cradle up in a tree (who put it up there ? Where are the parents?)
and when the wind blows, the baby plummets to the ground....
no wonder i need therapy.....

I didn't even realize what today was. lol It's not really celebrated where I am.

@ Envy

Yes, nursery rhymes traumatized me too. Oranges and Lemons was my least favorite.

\"Oranges and lemons\" say the bells of St. Clement's
\"You owe me five farthings\" say the bells of St. Martin's
\"When will you pay me?\" say the bells of Old Bailey
\"When I grow rich\" say the bells of Shoreditch
\"When will that be?\" say the bells of Stepney
\"I do not know\" say the great bells of Bow
\"Here comes a candle to light you to bed
And here comes a chopper to chop off your head!”

Always pay back any money owed or the bells are going to get psycho and kill ya. ;)

for the record, I knew of the holiday before the comic book/movie.

...I just never knew all the details; if it was because he was stopped & the king was saved, or because he tried to make changes and was celebrated as an anti-hero/martyr
(kinda BOTH reasons, huh?)

now,it's a reason to run amok, start fires, and get hammered... :woohoo:
Oh, and to sell \"V\" masks (I admit , I have one.and it's awesome!)
