I don't see why the cut of a crystal would decide the price because you can mould glass in any way, while a real crystal/mineral can't be shaped really how you like it...
The cut decides the price because certain cuts can 'show off' the reflective/shimmery attributes of certain gems. Glass doesn't reflect light the same way, apparently. Each gem/crystal is different so each one will have a cut which shows off its best attributes. Supposedly, the more complex the cut, the more sparkly-light-reflecting purposes the gem will have, and therefore, the higher the price, especially as only certain gems are big/flawless enough to handle certain complex cuts.

I know that, I was addressing the cut of a Swarovski crystal (which is made of glass) referring to what ondespumeggianti said earlier... oh, well, sorry we went so much off-topic here...
To see a world in a Grain of Sand,
And a Heaven in a Wild Flower,
Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand,
And eternity in an hour.

I seem to have misplaced my previous red ascot, so it was time to get a new one.
