I personally am a pagan of North and I believe in the gods of the North.
I find this way of looking at life very fair.

which is a shame is that world history has made this wonderful nation a bunch of big brutes bawdy, who raped and robbed. While the truth, now revealed by archeology shows us that truth is really different.

Yes, recent discoveries have shown that the Vikings were much different at home than they were at invading countries. While we recognize then as brutal killers and ravagers, this knowledge is handed down from the people whom were invaded by the Vikings. These barbarians at home, were actually a peaceful and prosperous people, contrary to popular belief.
Meaning comes from within.

it would still not be exaggerated.

It was a proud people with values and placed high in the hierarchy of the warrior skills.
So it was better to have them as allies than as enemies.
