The employment situation up here seems to depend on which politition you listen to, personally I think it's much the same as anywhere else, not good.
The people of the northern isles are very friendly and tolerant but I believe certain parts of Scotland can be much less welcoming to English newcomers.
It is not my place to advise on lifestyles but may I suggest you consider just being you. If you have to dial it down now and then to
get what you need, then so be it. Works for me.
