Are there any other fans of Shakespeare's work here?
If so, what are your favourite plays, poems, and film adaptations of his works?

My favourites are Romeo and Juliet (in film and theatre versions) and the taming of the shrew.

Hmm..

I always had a soft spot for: As You Like It, Othello, Hamlet and Twelfth Night, as well as many more.

Poems by Shakespeare - Countless ones I love.

I never really liked Romeo and Juliet..Everyone generally sees Romeo as some sort of ultimate love, whereas I think he's a shallow little... Not sure about what you think, but practically everyone I know seems to ignore the fact he was able to jump so quickly from Rosaline to Juliet.

I think it's obvious by my profile signature that I'm a Shakespeare fan. :)

Favourites... Hard to tell, I watched (and read) almost all of his plays in theatre and watched many movies inspired with his work and life...
I really enjoyed watching Measure for Measure in the Globe theatre. It's a special experience compared to the regular theatres or plays held in the open.
As for poems, I'd say \"The Phoenix and the Turtle\" is my favourite.

To see a world in a Grain of Sand,
And a Heaven in a Wild Flower,
Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand,
And eternity in an hour.

English Lit classes in high school absolutely ruined Shakespeare for me. They broke the works down so much, and made them horribly dry and boring. They'd ask all kinds of daft questions and you'd have to write pages of essays, instead of just reading and enjoying them.

I'm surprised I read anything at all now, after sitting through that...

I used to find Shakespeare's works a little on the boring side until I had one fabulous english teacher. He was so passionate about the works that I developed quite a taste for them. Consequently, I think that Macbeth (or \"The Scottish Play\") is my favorite as that was the first one this teacher covered.

*Gasp* How could I forget Macbeth. My little brother had to do a school production of Macbeth (it was adorable :P). I never studied Shakespeare at his age. Not sure whether it'd have been a good or bad thing if I was given the chance, after thinking about what Morgana mentioned.
