Hold it! One thing is plain normal detox when you've been overeating or drinking too much and want to clean your body a bit, other is drug detox.
Honestly, I can't be sorry if he loses his probation if he's so stupid to do drugs in the first place.

If I were in your place I'd get your friend to quit completely and not just becasue of the drug test. Don't know what type of drug test he has to undergo and which drug he took, but most probably he screwed up his probation.
