Drugs quite frankly scare me. This includes cigarettes and alcohol (with the exception of red wine).

Marijuana is not necessarily a \"gateway\" drug, it just depends on the personality of the user. I know lots of people who smoke it on a regular basis, and are responsible people with regular, full time jobs. Yes, some people do start with a joint and go on to heavier drugs, but not all. And of course it's not good to be inhaling smoke, but it's no worse than cigarettes in that respect. Maybe even better, because most people don't smoke 25 joints a day (25 cigs in a pack, I think). To me, it's no different than someone who likes to relax with a few beers on the weekend. Not everyone who drinks becomes an alcoholic, and not everyone who smokes pot becomes a criminal drug fiend.

In school, long time ago, we where in groups of 4-5 people and had to make our own country. Everything went fine, untill we got to the drug-part... I didn't want any of it, not even alcohol, but the other 3 wanted both cigarettes and alcohol to be ok, because 'what else would the adult ones drink?' Yes, what else?

I don't like any kind of drug, except coffe and tea, because they only dehydrate you if you don't know better, but everything else I don't really like. Especially cigarettes - never tried it, never want to, even tho the 'cool people' offered me (didn't get that you had to say yes back then), but alcohol is pretty ok. I just don't like that it's such a great part of our lifes... why does party always equal alcohol?
Don't get me wrong tho, I've had a drink, I just don't like that our society is so addicted to it. Should be other ways

Is tea considered a drug?
I mean, black tea has caffeine, and like coffee, it can be addictive, but...a drug?

Ive been drinking a litre of green tea every day for the past few years, and I haven't felt dehydrated, or addicted to it

I'm against drugs simply because I'm against everything that has been proven to be damaging to the body in the long run. Even though sometimes I might feel sorry for a junkie, and although I believe that they deserve care like everyone else does, I don't believe that they are excused for their stupidity. Because frankly, I think it's plain stupidity if you get yourself addicted to something when you know it's addictive and harmful. And ''not knowing'' is equally cliché to the ''bad crowd'' excuse millkins mentioned, since none of both makes a respectable or even believable excuse nowadays

As for alcohol, I think it's ok as long as you know when to stop and don't drink too often

The U.S. tried to ban alcohol in the 1920's, and that was the rise of the bootleggers, people who made alcohol and sold it, even though it was illegal. So much crime came out of prohibition that it was repealed less than 10 years later, and it never went away. Oddly, more people drank during prohibition than used alcohol before or since. They used it because it was illegal, which made it \"dangerous\" and people love to try something when they are told no. I think making something illegal won't help. But regulating it within the government, with taxes and laws to control use, that can keep things to a minimum. I am not saying to legalize heroin or cocaine, or even marijuana, but alcohol and cigarettes are already part of the culture, and trying to ban them entirely will just cause problems.

Nothing to see here, move along folks.

Well here in Australia, the government is making people may more for alcohol and cigarettes (I don't know about cigars though...you don't usually see people smoking them around here).
