You know brother for a plant is considered a drug, it is not a question of toxicity but about politics ...
Most of the drugs were \"medicinal plants\".
As far as I know salvia is not \"toxic\"

Mes hommages.

I have a question. So far, from what I've studied, it's still debated in America and many other countries.
Is Salvia divinorum a drug? Many say it is and many say that, since it has no toxic content, it is not. I'm just curious. I'm about to start growing a lot of it for my spirit journeys and I know people are going to want me to explain it to them. I just need to know if anyone can pull up any proof for either side.

Something doesn't have to be toxic to be considered a drug.
Salvia divinorum is considered a drug in Croaitia and it's prohibited by law.
It's a strong hallucinogen, the active substance Salvinorin A is the most potent naturally-occurring psychoactive compound known. Salvia divinorum is also know among consumers as Eclipse, herbal ecstasy. A doze of 200 to 500 micrograms induces deep hallucinations that last from 30 minutes up to two hours; a doze of more then 500 micrograms may induce an unconscious state combined with the person being in a state of uncontrolled delirium... It's addictive effects weren't proved.
If you are going to use it be very cautious of the dosage.

The only thing I've ever heard of called salvia is just your average garden plant. It comes in other colours, but the red one shown here ( www.veseys.com/ca/en/store/flowerseed/salviaa/stjohnsfire ) is by far the most common. Not sure if it's related to the hallucenogenic one or not though.

All I know about Salvia divinorum is that Australia was the first country to ban it...

Death's kiss was soft as rose petals...

Salvia is a genus of plants in the mint family, most people are widely familiar with Salvia officialis, common sage. There are hundreds of different Salvia species, some are edible others are just for for decoration.
