guys...i'm from romania, and trust me when i say that transylvania isn't such a big deal. sure you get some awesome scenery and u have vlad's castle there, but it's filled with tourist things like a guy wearing a halloween mask and being on stilts....it's pretty lame....people get overly excited about transylvania ..but in fact you don't have many things to do ....

To me it's not the place, but it's the thoughts and feelings behind it. If I never go to the actuall site, I woulnd't mind, but it's just a special place with a special meaning. Everybody know of it, evereybody has heard of it, and everybody knows it's relation to vampires and alike. Can't come closer to a hive mind... hm, not that it would be such a great idea anyway

I think that Bram Stoker made us the greatest publicity, even though his novel it's just a fiction! ;)

Yes, I think Stoker is definitely responsible for the fascination with Transylvania. I guess it's like anywhere else though... if you live there, it's not such a big deal. It's special because it's your home, but that's it.

OH HECK YEAH it's on my to do list; but not e.t.d. yet;

Fortunately, i do have a friend from Romania and she brought me back a lovely trinket on her last vacation (will post a pic as soon as i find me camera)
