The same. I started reading it a while back, but I'm progressing extremely slowly through it due to revision. :S
\"The Host, by Stephenie Meyer (the Twilight lady) It was okay, more adult than Twilight, and creepy as hell, sort of Invasion of the Body Snatchers creepy, and no overly-emotional hottie vampires.\"
Uh, MORE adult than 'Twilight'? In what way? More mature writing or more sexual scenes? Seeing as 'Twilight' is near enough porn for teens as it is. I haven't really had the desire to pick up any other Meyer book after reading the 'Twilight' lot. I just dislike her writing style and the content that Meyer's agreeing to sell to teenagers. Some as young as 11 or so are 'Twilight' fans and I just don't feel it gives young girls an accurate image of an 'ideal' relationship, which so many seem to take the one in 'Twilight' to be. They're just too young to understand.
I have the same dislike with Paolini and J.K. Rowling's style. It puts me off reading anything else they might come up with in the future.
I'll finish reading the series Paolini's written once the lot comes out, but that's just for the sake of completeness. Won't be reading anything by him again I think.

I just finished Skeleton Crew, which is a collection of short stories by Stephen King. Most of them were pretty good, and one in particular, called The Jaunt, really creeped me out.

Envy, re: the Host, not sexual at all. More about humanity and what it means. Much more complex a book than Twilight. Sex does not equal \"mature\". And I was always disappointed at Twilight for being kind of tame on the sex. Maybe that's just me? Huh.
I agree with you on the Paolini thing, I just wish he would actually publish book 4 so I can be done with it! I can't leave things unfinished. But I love Harry Potter. Sorry.
But I am re-reading some of Laurell K Hamilton at the moment, since her new book comes out in a week or two. Can't wait on that one. Talk about sex, and nothing in those books is an idealistic relationship. It is wonderful! :woohoo:

Haha.
I liked Harry Potter books at the beginning..But by the time I reached the 5th/6th books, the plot just became monotonous to me - I got fed up of how nearly every book (as I seem to recall) began with Harry's birthday. It just ruined the beginnings for me. I guess I just tired of the plotline by the time I finished reading.
Paolini's supposedly hijacked a lot of his ideas from other authors. There's a lot of stuff online about his writing and the uncanny similarities to the books which inspired him. I can't think of a link now, but you don't have to wander far to find sites which claim he's just one big plagiariser. I also thought his characters and the world he created was similar to that of LOTR. The movie interpretation made that similarity all the more prominent.
I know that sex doesn't equal mature, I was asking whether Meyer's writing style and subject was more mature and sophisticated in 'The Host' than that of 'Twilight'. I might consider reading 'The Host' just out of curiosity (this is why I end up reading books I say I won't - Curiosity). :S Wondering what Meyer creates when she doesn't use sex appeal in her writing.
Curious, curious. Wouldn't be willing to spend money on it though, so to the library I shall go. :silly:

Don't spend money on the Host. It is definitely one to get at the library. Right after I bought it from Amazon, I saw it at a used book sale for $1. Oh, well.
I am up to Blue Moon in the Anita Blake series, since the new book comes out Tuesday. I don't think I will be ready for it by then. I still have a bunch of other books to read, but none that are screaming at me to read them, so I will just keep plugging away.
I got the new book in the Immortal Nicholas Flamel series the other day, but I want to go back and at least page through the first three books before starting it. It has been a year, and since the plot of all three books to this point has taken place in about 5 consecutive days, with \"The Necromancer\" picking up at that point, I want to have some clue as to what was going on before starting the new book. Maybe next week...
