Regarding the salt problem - I recall hearing about a load of salt that was supposed to be shipped to Germany, being halted and used for UK use instead due to shortages. :blink:

I didn't really like the movie 2012. :P

I think we have enough salt here, but the problem is that cities are already overbudget for paying the drivers who plow the roads and drive the salt trucks around. They plan for a certain amount every year in the budget, and they have already spent it and then some. Oops! And we are expecting more snow...

My in-laws go to Florida for the winters (central part, near Orlando I think) to escape the Canadian cold. But it's been below freezing where they are now too. They're doing OK, but people who live there year-round think it's just brutal, compared to what they're used to.

The only problem I've heard up here in Sweden is that we don't have enough educated roof-plowers. We got too much snow on the roof, and ice as well, but not enough people who can get it down properly, and if normal people get up there some real bad accidents can happen... and not only innocent people getting icecones in the head...
