I get my Onyx from a store that specialises in crystals, fossils and the like. My favourite piece of Onyx has a blue veins in it, it's most gorgeous!

That's very interesting. I knew onyx was one of the gems \"assigned\" to Capricorn, but I'd never heard that bit of info before.

Onyx is very pretty, but I'm wary of buying it. How can you tell if a stone is real onyx? As it's jet black..

If you're not familiar with crystals, then it's best to go buy them at a good specialist store.

Onyx isn't completely jet black. There is another stone that is called Jet and that one in fact is jet black.
Onyx can be black, grey, white, blue, brown, yellow and red; it's appearance is marble-like.
It's a very special stone, at least to me. It can hold physical memories of the wearer so I wouldn't recommend letting others wear your onyx jewellery. Traditionally, onyx worn around the neck cools down lust, encourages frigidity, so it's said that only Capricorn can wear it without such side-effects.

Oh! Well, I've learned a fair bit today!

:P Very interesting information..Blue onyx sounds aesthetically appealing and the properties, intriguing.

^.^ Thanks.

You're welcome. :) I know a fair bit about onyx because I it's one of my favourites and I wear it almost constantly. I didn't want to go all encyclopaedic on you with the info, but thought those are some interesting bits of info that can encourage you to find more info. Just don't be sad if the stone doesn't respond to you when you hold it, it's better to get a stone that you literally feel is right for you.

And a Heaven in a Wild Flower,
Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand,
And eternity in an hour.

I always choose crystals that feel good. Most of the time my mum complains that they look awful, but I don't care, if I feel a connection, what it looks like is irrelevant.

Bah..I just wish we had more shops which specialised in selling stones and crystals. In the city - You'd be hard pushed to find a shop. There's only one I know of and they sell things in jewellery form. No rough stones etc..

I think I'd have to head back to the US to find a shop which just sold rough-cut stones/crystals.

I never used to be interested in this 'kind of thing'..But when I think about it, things like crystals and stones do have a nice, pleasantly cool feel to them when you hold one. The ones I have do, anyway.

^.^ They're just pretty and fun to play with, so I'm curious. I'm very much a touchy-feely-poke-everything-in-the-shop type of person.
