I'm grumpy and angry-looking pretty often, but I also have enough good moods. At work I generally always smile, don't really know why. Maybe it's because I'm enjoying myself.

the worst I've seen in Gothic was a young boy who told me:
I'm gothic because I have a fallen angel in me.

what I replied that I knew the name of the famous fallen angel.
he call'd: Adolescence...

Either that, or schizophrenia. :P

I lol'd to the above comment mainly because I've had a similar experience.

I was at my daughter's school today volunteering, and a gaggle of 10-year-old girls was walking down the hall. I was in a teacher work room cutting paper for a class project, wearing my black dress and purple ribbons, pleasantly minding my own business. One of the girls in the hall called out, \"Hey, there's the goth lady!\" I laughed and smiled at them. They all know me there, and seem to enjoy seeing me. If for nothing else, that I am always interesting to look at, and talk to the kids like they are people. All kids like that.

Nothing to see here, move along folks.

Scootiebee, I mean no disrespect whatsoever, but I'm curious...

Does your daughter ever get teased because you're different from all the other moms? I know how evil kids can be, especially at that age, although it sounds like they like you.

I just asked her, and she responded that no, but people make nice comments, like they like my hair, or my sense of style. Strange. I guess kids can appreciate differences in adults while rejecting differences in other kids. Maybe I am expanding their minds. But she just now says that she never has been teased because of how I look. Good to know. Thanks, because I had never thought of asking her before. I had always had such a positive response from all the kids that it never occurred to me that anyone had negative feelings towards her, since they were always so positive to me. It is actually a relief to know that she is just fine with it.

I'm very glad to hear that! I remember being teased at that age because of things about my family which I had no control over. Sounds like your daughter has a nice group of friends though.
