What kind of bands are neo-classic? I know there's neo-classical metal but I'm even sure on what that is exactly.

Neo-clssic, just from the name itself would describe bands that do basically classic stuff with a new edge/interpretation etc. But am not sure myself and don't know a band that would be a good example...

To see a world in a Grain of Sand,
And a Heaven in a Wild Flower,
Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand,
And eternity in an hour.

Why would you think that Metal is even close to Gothic? There is no connection what-so-ever. Metal music comes from heavy rock music in the 80's and 70's. Not even glam rock, which has a connection to goth rock. Metal is actually traced all of the way back to the Beatles. The use of overdrives on the guitar was the basis of metal riffs. Goth rock and it's predecesors were mostly based off of the lyrics, not the guitar usage. Metal seeks to create a constant and mindblowing sound in the ear drums that evokes rage and anger. Goth, preferred to use lyrics to evoke solemness, melancholy, and even sorrow. It was more on the blue side of the emotional scale, while metal was on the red side. So, by looking at that picture, metal and goth music are polar opposites. There is a genre known as goth metal but it's usually not referred to as gothic by most goths. The most popular being Otep and Anathema. Even so it's called goth metal or doom metal, it's still a subgenre of METAL, not Goth.

Oh, and Neo-classical music is just music composed by composers in the 20th and 21st century with basis and influence from 18th and 19th century classical music. Nothing special. The Trans Siberian Orchestra is a good example. In fact, most orchestra's have a heavy influence from past music.

Meaning comes from within.
