Trust & Fidelity was created by Thurysaz
What do you think of fidelity? Is this an important value for you?
Fidelity is the fifth value of the asset code of honor among the Vikings (old & modern)
We are talking about fidelity in general: fidelity in a relationship, friendship, self...

What is your view?

black_magnolia's edit: I've changed the title of the thread to broaden the topic. I'm of the opinion that trust and fidelity aren't one and the same thing, but to avoid further unnecessary disagreements about the topic of this thread, let's talk about both.

Trust cannot be generalized. There are \"trust pacts\" I honor with every atom of my existence and there are some I have violated. My opinion is that fidelity is something you cannot buy by any means, however, I have given my trust for nothing more than a few words. Yes, I have betrayed and been betrayed... But dammit if that is something you can know for certain. That's why it's called trust. Sometimes you give it without thinking, KNOWING you will not be let down, but at the end of the day, it's really up to the other person.

Choices we make and the choices that are, when Hell is so close and Heaven so far.

Trusting someone has truly become a \"bet\", because, nowadays, the honor is no longer a value to which the man stands. So since he has no honor, you betrayed even faster than before...

Hello !
Generally in life you get what you give : must provide the benefits without thinking.Loyalty also means self-esteem we can\"t dissipate the feelings and experiences without remain with empty soul. Fidelity is the best of the human heart and the worst. It is faith and patience and endurance.

I have one person I truly belive she will not betray me. I think that fidelity is important, but today you can't trust anyone anymore. World is full of thiefs and liars.

Wanting to be like someone else, we forget who we really are.

It's interesting how this topic went from fidelity to trust.
Fidelity and trust aren't synonyms.
Fidelity is the quality of being faithful or loyal. Its original meaning regarded duty to a lord or a king, in a broader sense than the related concept of fealty. The word deriving from the Latin word fidēlis (adjective), meaning \"faithful or loyal\".
Trust stands for the reliance on and confidence in the truth, worth, reliability, etc., of a person or thing.
I'll try to put it simple:
You can or can not *trust* someone to be *faithful or loyal*.
Fidelity isn't something that is mechanically connected to trust. You are faithful/loyal to someone no metter what. That friend may stab you in the back but you will stay loyal to him; the king is forcing a tax on the people and betraying thir trust because he promised that he won't force any more taxes on them, and you still stay loyal to the king even though you may feel the king is wrong - that's the reason you have to think twice to whom you promise to be faithful or loyal, becasue after such a promise, it's more of a matter of honour if you will oblige to such a promise and thus stay loyal. In that regard trust can lead to fidelity, but the two shouldn't be regarded as equal...

And a Heaven in a Wild Flower,
Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand,
And eternity in an hour.
