it is true that I love the politeness of the high society of that time.
But I doubt it was the same in the lower social strata ...

Mes hommages.

I love the clothes from that era but they were absolutely crazy when it came to depression especially with women, they used to send any women with depression to mental asylums and they were more times then not executed because there depression grew worse from being locked up. High class people even used to pay to see the executions as if they were a local sporting event.

What is a day without a blessed night?
And what is peace without a blessed fight?

A quick taste of the poison, a quick twist of the knife
When the obsession with death becomes a way of life

I dress a lot in Victorian style clothes, and steampunk type clothes. I love the whimsy of it, and the charm. But I agree with the negative stuff too. If I had lived in that time, I would have been locked up or hidden away, so I am glad I live in this modern time when I can wear the clothes, act polite, and still have meds to keep me sane and be allowed out of doors! :)

Nothing to see here, move along folks.

Yes they were real gentlemen in those days

Even a man who is pure in heart and says his prayers by night, may become a wolf when the wolfsbane blooms and the autumn moon is bright.

Every era has their good and bad points. That's the beauty of the present time. You can find things from all eras that are appealing to you and make them your own. Just because I like Victorian era clothing, doesn't mean I endorse every aspect of that era. For goodness' sake! Child labor, really poor life expectancy, no real sanitation system, etc. I could go on and on, but really, I just like the clothes.
