I believe they got some real good songs with the new singer, and even tho she's far too fond of the camera (and don't know how to dance or dress properly for being something even close to gothic) I believe they have made some real good songs. Ever heard the Islander?
And my thought about her being bad, one of the reasons, is beccause she's been a background-singer all her career, and in that song she's doing her thing good

It's not that she's a bad singer, she just doesn't suit the music so much (she sounds like a pop singer). Tarja's voice was really big, so it went along side all the big sounding orchestral bits and the metallic bits.
Anyone would think this was a Nightwish discussion!
Has anyone heard Tarja's solo stuff, like My Winter Storm?

Not bad is it. Has a bit of a poppy sound sometimes but as a showcase for her vocal talent it's really good. I like her version of Poison as well. Nothing could beat the Alice Cooper original but hers is like a different take on it rather than just a cover.

not really much on cover's myself but i do like marilyn manson's versions of sweet dreams and personal jesus. very well done in my opinion
