The Sisters of Mercy - Marian 10 Months ago  
A truly amazing song from the Sister's debut, First and Last and Always. But does anyone know why it is called Marian "[Version]" and not simply "Marian"? The back of the CD calls it the former and that's what Windows Media Player names it as automatically. Are there more versions of it? Is it something to do with the assorted vinyl and CD editions of the album? I'd just really like to know!

I'm not that sure, but I remember reading somewhere that Eldritch wrote the song for a German girl he liked so hence the German in the lyrics... Maybe there was a completely English version?

Lucretia is amazing, good choice.
Also check out Some Kind of Stranger, Dominion/Mother Russia, Flood I, Driven Like the Snow, Emma, Vision Thing, Ribbons and More. I consider them the most influential trad goth band on gothic metal.
