Hi everyone, I'm part of the Bloodstock Cyber team, and just thought I'd create a topic about the festival.
There have been several bands booked already;
The Bloodstock team are pleased to announce that guitar legend and former Manowar axeman ROSS THE BOSS will be added to the bill for next year’s Bloodstock Open Air Festival .
Born Ross Friedman, Ross The Boss got his first break with New York proto-punk band The Dictators, whom he joined in 1973. After recording three seminal albums, the band split in 1979 but Ross soon met bassist Joey DeMaio with whom he formed Manowar in 1980. Manowar recorded a total of six albums with Ross The Boss, beginning with their 1982 debut Battle Hymns and running right through to 1988’s Kings Of Metal. Fans generally regard this period as the best in the band’s history.
In the years following his departure from Manowar, Ross has performed with a wide variety of other bands, including the reformed Dictators and the Brain Surgeons who also feature former Blue Öyster Cult drummer Albert Bouchard.
In April 2006 he performed what was intended to be a one-off set of early Manowar tracks at Germany’s Keep It True Festival, backed by German Manowar covers band Men Of War. However, such was its success that this line-up went on to play further European festivals and eventually began working on new original material. In August 2008, they released their debut effort New Metal Leader, a full-on return for Ross The Boss to the pure heavy metal sound with which he made his name.

ROSS THE BOSS – Death & Glory - BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR 2010
The Bloodstock team are pleased to announce that German metallers RAGE have been added to the bill for Bloodstock Open Air 2010.
Rage formed in 1984 as Avenger, releasing an album and EP before switching moniker for 1986’s Reign Of Fear. The band’s sound in their early days placed them at the heart of the burgeoning European thrash/speed metal scene, but as the turn of the decade approached, their music started to become more complex and refined, shifting away from speed metal and towards more melodic and progressively-influenced territory. The changes which were already evident on 1988’s Perfect Man continued throughout the 90s and included 1996’s Lingua Mortis, which saw the band record with an orchestra. Tours with Running Wild, U.D.O., Motörhead and Saxon brought the band greater international recognition and they have gone on to enjoy consistent success at home and abroad while many of their former contemporaries have fallen victim to changing fashions and musical fads. Despite numerous line-up changes, under the guidance of mainman Peavy Wagner, Rage have continued to produce intense and intelligent metal of the highest calibre, as witnessed on their latest album, 2008’s Cast In Stone.

RAGE – Gib Dich Nie Auf - BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR 2010.
The Bloodstock team are pleased to announce that death metal legends OBITUARY have been added to the bill for Bloodstock Open Air 2010.
Formed in Tampa, Florida in 1985, Obituary are one of the originators of death metal and central to the so-called ‘Florida scene’ which also included pioneering bands such as Morbid Angel and Deicide. Originally called Xecutioner, the band changed their name just prior to the release of their debut album, 1989’s Slowly We Rot. The album’s striking blend of brutally-fast and slow, sludgy riffs is highly distinctive and coupled with vocalist John Tardy’s extremely guttural style, has defined their sound throughout their career. The follow-up effort, 1991’s Cause of Death, is considered a landmark in death metal history, and the band successfully continued with both The End Complete (1992) and World Demise (1994) making them one of the best-selling acts in the genre.
Following 1997’s Back From the Dead, exhausted from years of touring, the band went their separate ways and concentrated on other projects. Drummer Donald Tardy – brother of vocalist John - played in Andrew W.K.'s touring band, lead guitarist Allen West (now no longer with the band) worked in Lowbrow and Six Feet Under while rhythm guitarist Trevor Peres formed Catastrophic in 2001 and released an album, The Cleansing, that same year.
Rested and revitalised, Obituary reformed in 2003, and after a series of well-received live dates, issued their comeback album Frozen in Time in 2005. Since then, they’ve issued two further critically-acclaimed albums – 2007’s Xecutioner's Return and this year’s Darkest Day – and continued to reassert their position as one of the most iconic death metal bands of all time.

The Bloodstock team are pleased to announce that Polish extreme metallers BEHEMOTH have been added to the bill for Bloodstock Open Air 2010. This will be their only UK Festival Exclusive date in 2010!
Behemoth were formed in the city of Gdańsk in 1991 by guitarist/vocalist Adam ‘Nergal’ Darski, originally as a primitive black metal band. Two years after their landmark 1993 demo ...From the Pagan Vastlands, their first album Sventevith (Storming Near the Baltic) was released, followed in 1996 by their second full-length Grom. 1998’s Pandemonic Incantations further solidified their growing cult following in the underground and paved the way for the following year’s Satanica which marked both a breakthrough in terms of exposure and a shift in style to incorporate death metal influences. 2000’s Thelema.6 saw the band beginning to gain serious exposure in the mainstream music press and embark on major tours with the likes of Carpathian Forest, Krisiun and fellow countrymen Vader.
Many believed that Behemoth would struggle to improve on Thelema.6, but with 2002’s Zos Kia Cultus (Here and Beyond) they did it in style, touring the US for the first time in 2003 on the back of the album’s success. Demigod, released in 2004, and 2007’s The Apostasy have also met with widespread critical acclaim, the latter bagging the band a slot on the second stage of that year’s Ozzfest and launching them into their first headlining tour of the US. The band’s first live album At the Arena ov Aion – Live Apostasy followed in 2008, forming a welcome stop-gap before the appearance of their latest opus, the recently released Evangelion. Currently on tour throughout the world, Behemoth will be in ferocious form when their assault on Bloodstock begins.
BEHEMOTH – Summoning the Ancient Ones - BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR 2010.
The Bloodstock team are proud to announce that legendary multi-instrumentalist DEVIN TOWNSEND has been added to the bill for Bloodstock Open Air 2010 as a Very Special Guest appearance. This will be his ONLY UK SHOW in 2010!
Devin Townsend is the mastermind behind extreme metal pioneers Strapping Young Lad and a series of diverse solo albums released under his own name and also as The Devin Townsend Band and The Devin Townsend Project. In addition, he has collaborated with a huge number of other artists and is also a noted producer.
Devin was born in Canada in 1972 and spent his high school years performing in a series of local metal bands. His first big break came in 1993 when he was recruited to perform lead vocals on guitarist Steve Vai's Sex & Religion album. The first Strapping Young Lad album Heavy as a Really Heavy Thing appeared in 1995, and although mostly performed by Devin himself, he soon assembled a full line-up who in 1997 released City, widely considered to be the band’s best work. Following a five year hiatus, SYL returned with Strapping Young Lad (2003), Alien (2005) and The New Black (2006) after which Devin disbanded the group once more, this time seemingly for good.
Unlike the chaotic fusion of extreme metal styles favoured by Strapping Young Lad, Devin’s solo work offers a diverse blend of hard rock, progressive metal and even ambient music performed in collaboration with a varying line-up of supporting musicians. His first solo recording was 1997’s Ocean Machine: Biomech which was followed by no less than eight further albums including the extreme Physicist (2000), 2003’s Accelerated Evolution - the first of two releases as The Devin Townsend Band - and the bizarre Ziltoid the Omniscient (2007). Following the release of Ziltoid, Devin temporarily retired from touring prior to assembling the Devin Townsend Project which issued its debut album Ki in May 2009. Ki forms the first instalment of a planned series of four albums, each with a different theme and involving a different group of musicians. The second release, Addicted, is expected in November while the third, Deconstruction, has been tentatively pencilled in for spring 2010.
“Hey folks, Devin Townsend here. Coming at you after a multi year hiatus of playing live.
I am extremely proud to say that I have the honor of playing the 2010 Bloodstock festival in England this coming summer! It's been a while since I've played any shows so I hope you'll join me as I finally get the chance to bring this vision to the big stage.
I will be playing selections from Addicted, Deconstruction, Ziltoid, Physicist, Ki, Infinity, Ocean Machine and various other albums from the past 15 years. I'm extremely proud to have the opportunity to finally bring these albums to you; I have been planning this for many years. It will be an experience that I hope we will all remember for years to come.
There's no time like the present, Lets kick some ass.
Devin Townsend”
Few musicians in any genre are as talented, prolific and unpredictable as Devin Townsend. His Bloodstock debut and ONLY UK SHOW of 2010 is set to be a truly explosive event.
