Bloodstock 2010 5 Months ago
Hi everyone, I'm part of the Bloodstock Cyber team, and just thought I'd create a topic about the festival.

There have been several bands booked already;

The Bloodstock team are pleased to announce that guitar legend and former Manowar axeman ROSS THE BOSS will be added to the bill for next year’s Bloodstock Open Air Festival .

Born Ross Friedman, Ross The Boss got his first break with New York proto-punk band The Dictators, whom he joined in 1973. After recording three seminal albums, the band split in 1979 but Ross soon met bassist Joey DeMaio with whom he formed Manowar in 1980. Manowar recorded a total of six albums with Ross The Boss, beginning with their 1982 debut Battle Hymns and running right through to 1988’s Kings Of Metal. Fans generally regard this period as the best in the band’s history.

In the years following his departure from Manowar, Ross has performed with a wide variety of other bands, including the reformed Dictators and the Brain Surgeons who also feature former Blue Öyster Cult drummer Albert Bouchard.

In April 2006 he performed what was intended to be a one-off set of early Manowar tracks at Germany’s Keep It True Festival, backed by German Manowar covers band Men Of War. However, such was its success that this line-up went on to play further European festivals and eventually began working on new original material. In August 2008, they released their debut effort New Metal Leader, a full-on return for Ross The Boss to the pure heavy metal sound with which he made his name.

ROSS THE BOSS – Death & Glory - BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR 2010

The Bloodstock team are pleased to announce that German metallers RAGE have been added to the bill for Bloodstock Open Air 2010.

Rage formed in 1984 as Avenger, releasing an album and EP before switching moniker for 1986’s Reign Of Fear. The band’s sound in their early days placed them at the heart of the burgeoning European thrash/speed metal scene, but as the turn of the decade approached, their music started to become more complex and refined, shifting away from speed metal and towards more melodic and progressively-influenced territory. The changes which were already evident on 1988’s Perfect Man continued throughout the 90s and included 1996’s Lingua Mortis, which saw the band record with an orchestra. Tours with Running Wild, U.D.O., Motörhead and Saxon brought the band greater international recognition and they have gone on to enjoy consistent success at home and abroad while many of their former contemporaries have fallen victim to changing fashions and musical fads. Despite numerous line-up changes, under the guidance of mainman Peavy Wagner, Rage have continued to produce intense and intelligent metal of the highest calibre, as witnessed on their latest album, 2008’s Cast In Stone.

RAGE – Gib Dich Nie Auf - BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR 2010.

The Bloodstock team are pleased to announce that death metal legends OBITUARY have been added to the bill for Bloodstock Open Air 2010.

Formed in Tampa, Florida in 1985, Obituary are one of the originators of death metal and central to the so-called ‘Florida scene’ which also included pioneering bands such as Morbid Angel and Deicide. Originally called Xecutioner, the band changed their name just prior to the release of their debut album, 1989’s Slowly We Rot. The album’s striking blend of brutally-fast and slow, sludgy riffs is highly distinctive and coupled with vocalist John Tardy’s extremely guttural style, has defined their sound throughout their career. The follow-up effort, 1991’s Cause of Death, is considered a landmark in death metal history, and the band successfully continued with both The End Complete (1992) and World Demise (1994) making them one of the best-selling acts in the genre.

Following 1997’s Back From the Dead, exhausted from years of touring, the band went their separate ways and concentrated on other projects. Drummer Donald Tardy – brother of vocalist John - played in Andrew W.K.'s touring band, lead guitarist Allen West (now no longer with the band) worked in Lowbrow and Six Feet Under while rhythm guitarist Trevor Peres formed Catastrophic in 2001 and released an album, The Cleansing, that same year.

Rested and revitalised, Obituary reformed in 2003, and after a series of well-received live dates, issued their comeback album Frozen in Time in 2005. Since then, they’ve issued two further critically-acclaimed albums – 2007’s Xecutioner's Return and this year’s Darkest Day – and continued to reassert their position as one of the most iconic death metal bands of all time.

OBITUARY – ‘Til Death - BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR 2010.

Swedish Prog-metal powerhouse ANDROMEDA are the fourth band to be added to the Bloodstock 10th Anniversary 2010 line up. Despite forming in 1999, the band have never before performed in the UK, meaning next year’s open air festival will mark the band’s UK debut.

Guitarist Johan Reinholdz had the following to say:

"We´re really excited about Bloodstock! It’s a real honour.. It´s gonna be a lot of fun finally coming to the UK to play, we were booked to play the Progpower UK-festival last year but sadly it got cancelled at the last minute. Hope to see many Andromeda fans there and other people too of course!"

The BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR METAL FESTIVAL 2010 will take place at Catton Hall, Derbyshire from 13th – 15th August.

The Bloodstock podcast is also now 7 days a week.

The Bloodstock team are pleased to announce that Polish extreme metallers BEHEMOTH have been added to the bill for Bloodstock Open Air 2010. This will be their only UK Festival Exclusive date in 2010!

Behemoth were formed in the city of Gdańsk in 1991 by guitarist/vocalist Adam ‘Nergal’ Darski, originally as a primitive black metal band. Two years after their landmark 1993 demo ...From the Pagan Vastlands, their first album Sventevith (Storming Near the Baltic) was released, followed in 1996 by their second full-length Grom. 1998’s Pandemonic Incantations further solidified their growing cult following in the underground and paved the way for the following year’s Satanica which marked both a breakthrough in terms of exposure and a shift in style to incorporate death metal influences. 2000’s Thelema.6 saw the band beginning to gain serious exposure in the mainstream music press and embark on major tours with the likes of Carpathian Forest, Krisiun and fellow countrymen Vader.

Many believed that Behemoth would struggle to improve on Thelema.6, but with 2002’s Zos Kia Cultus (Here and Beyond) they did it in style, touring the US for the first time in 2003 on the back of the album’s success. Demigod, released in 2004, and 2007’s The Apostasy have also met with widespread critical acclaim, the latter bagging the band a slot on the second stage of that year’s Ozzfest and launching them into their first headlining tour of the US. The band’s first live album At the Arena ov Aion – Live Apostasy followed in 2008, forming a welcome stop-gap before the appearance of their latest opus, the recently released Evangelion. Currently on tour throughout the world, Behemoth will be in ferocious form when their assault on Bloodstock begins.

BEHEMOTH – Summoning the Ancient Ones - BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR 2010.

The Bloodstock team are proud to announce that legendary multi-instrumentalist DEVIN TOWNSEND has been added to the bill for Bloodstock Open Air 2010 as a Very Special Guest appearance. This will be his ONLY UK SHOW in 2010!

Devin Townsend is the mastermind behind extreme metal pioneers Strapping Young Lad and a series of diverse solo albums released under his own name and also as The Devin Townsend Band and The Devin Townsend Project. In addition, he has collaborated with a huge number of other artists and is also a noted producer.

Devin was born in Canada in 1972 and spent his high school years performing in a series of local metal bands. His first big break came in 1993 when he was recruited to perform lead vocals on guitarist Steve Vai's Sex & Religion album. The first Strapping Young Lad album Heavy as a Really Heavy Thing appeared in 1995, and although mostly performed by Devin himself, he soon assembled a full line-up who in 1997 released City, widely considered to be the band’s best work. Following a five year hiatus, SYL returned with Strapping Young Lad (2003), Alien (2005) and The New Black (2006) after which Devin disbanded the group once more, this time seemingly for good.

Unlike the chaotic fusion of extreme metal styles favoured by Strapping Young Lad, Devin’s solo work offers a diverse blend of hard rock, progressive metal and even ambient music performed in collaboration with a varying line-up of supporting musicians. His first solo recording was 1997’s Ocean Machine: Biomech which was followed by no less than eight further albums including the extreme Physicist (2000), 2003’s Accelerated Evolution - the first of two releases as The Devin Townsend Band - and the bizarre Ziltoid the Omniscient (2007). Following the release of Ziltoid, Devin temporarily retired from touring prior to assembling the Devin Townsend Project which issued its debut album Ki in May 2009. Ki forms the first instalment of a planned series of four albums, each with a different theme and involving a different group of musicians. The second release, Addicted, is expected in November while the third, Deconstruction, has been tentatively pencilled in for spring 2010.

“Hey folks, Devin Townsend here. Coming at you after a multi year hiatus of playing live.

I am extremely proud to say that I have the honor of playing the 2010 Bloodstock festival in England this coming summer! It's been a while since I've played any shows so I hope you'll join me as I finally get the chance to bring this vision to the big stage.

I will be playing selections from Addicted, Deconstruction, Ziltoid, Physicist, Ki, Infinity, Ocean Machine and various other albums from the past 15 years. I'm extremely proud to have the opportunity to finally bring these albums to you; I have been planning this for many years. It will be an experience that I hope we will all remember for years to come.

There's no time like the present, Lets kick some ass.

Devin Townsend”

Few musicians in any genre are as talented, prolific and unpredictable as Devin Townsend. His Bloodstock debut and ONLY UK SHOW of 2010 is set to be a truly explosive event.

Four more bands announced;

The Bloodstock team are pleased to announce that Swedish power metallers DREAM EVIL have been added to the bill for Bloodstock Open Air 2010.

DREAM EVIL will be kicking off the proceedings at BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR 2010, with the first slot of the festival. With their catchy, anthemic and powerful brand of Heavy Metal, we can’t think of a more fun way to get the party started.

Bassist Pete Pain is looking forward to the band’s return:

"It's super nice to come back to play at the festival where we baptised Dannee Demon as new DREAM EVIL axeman. The memory fragments from Bloodstock are just positive and we feel great about coming back again in 2010! See you all soon!"

Formed by renowned producer Fredrik Nordström in 1999, Dream Evil was the realisation of Nordström’s long-held plan to establish his own power metal outfit. For the first line-up, he recruited Firewind guitarist Gus G, former King Diamond/Mercyful Fate drummer Snowy Shaw, bassist Peter Stålfors and vocalist Niklas Isfeld. The band soon bagged a deal with Century Media Records who issued their debut album Dragonslayer in 2002. It was an instant success, particularly in Japan, and the band quickly set about recording its follow-up, 2003’s Evilized. Their third album, The Book of Heavy Metal, followed in 2004 and marked the departure of Gus G.

High profile tours with the likes of HammerFall and Saxon brought the band to wider audiences and despite several shifts in line-up including the departure of Snowy Shaw, they returned in 2006 with the album United. Gold Medal in Metal, a DVD/CD package featuring live performances and rare tracks, emerged in 2008 forming a welcome stop-gap as the band continue to work on their forthcoming studio album, tentatively titled In The Night.

DREAM EVIL – Let’s Make Rock - BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR 2010.

The Bloodstock team are pleased to announce that symphonic goth metallers LEAVES EYES have been added to the bill for Bloodstock Open Air 2010. This will be their ONLY UK SHOW in 2010!

Symphonic Goth Metallers LEAVES EYES will be flying over to the UK next August especially for their appearance at BOA 2010 - the band’s only UK appearance of the year. States Frontlady Liv Kristine:

"The norsemen and women are back on the British Isles! We are looking forward to perform "Njord" live at Bloodstock Open Air, 2010. This will surely be a special event for both audience and band as the concept of our third and latest release is heavily influenced by the Vikings' experience and influence on British ground in the Middle-Ages."

Band mate and co-vocalist/keyboard player Alexander Krull is in agreement:
“It's great that we are able to play Bloodstock next year! Last time it didn't work out because of our time schedule in the studio, so we are really looking forward to this show! All our British friends and fans told us to play Bloodstock which is a really great metal festival! See you all there!"

Leaves Eyes were formed in 2003 by Atrocity frontman Alexander Krull and former Theatre of Tragedy vocalist Liv Kristine. Their debut album, Lovelorn, was released in 2004 and immediately established the group at the helm of the increasingly popular wave of female-fronted symphonic gothic metal bands. Its successor, 2005’s Vinland Saga, was more ambitious in scope, telling the tale of Leif Erikson, the first European to discovered Vinland (North America), over a thousand years ago. An EP Legend Land appeared the following year.

In 2008, the band issued a double DVD/double CD package entitled We Came with the Northern Winds - En Saga I Belgia which featured live performances and documentary footage. Their third and most recent studio album Njord appeared in August and looks set to maintain their status as one of the preeminent purveyors of symphonic metal.

The Bloodstock team are pleased to announce that legendary US death metallers SUFFOCATION have been added to the bill for Bloodstock Open Air 2010. This will be their ONLY UK FESTIVAL appearance in 2010!

Suffocation were formed in New York in 1989 and following the release of a demo entitled Reincremation, the band were picked up by US label Relapse. Their debut EP Human Waste and first full length album Effigy of the Forgotten both emerged in 1991, the latter on Roadrunner Records. The band’s intense fusion of technicality and brutality proved highly-influential and saw the follow-up efforts Breeding the Spawn (1993) and Pierced from Within (1995) enjoying widespread critical and commercial success. After extensive worldwide touring, the band issued the EP Despise the Sun in 1998 only to disband shortly afterwards.

After reforming in 2003, Suffocation returned to Relapse Records for the release of their 2004 comeback album Souls to Deny. A widely welcomed return, the album launched the highly successful second phase of the band’s career which has witnessed the release of two further albums – 2006’s self-titled effort and 2009’s Blood Oath – once again proving both their enduring influence and their ability to mix it with the best that contemporary death metal has to offer.

SUFFOCATION – Mass Obliteration - BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR 2010.

The Bloodstock team are pleased to announce that German metallers DORO have been added to the bill for Bloodstock Open Air 2010.

Fronted by former Warlock singer Doro Pesch, Doro the band have been the vehicle for the talents of this female vocal legend since Warlock’s demise following their 1987 album Triumph and Agony. Her first release as Doro – 1989’s Force Majeure - bore much of the signature Warlock sound and although the band have varied their style over the years and undergone numerous line-up changes, melodic heavy metal remains at their core.

As one of the few prominent female metal singers of the 1980s, Doro’s early career was extremely influential, and many female metal vocalists of later decades have cited her example as encouraging them to enter what is still a male-dominated scene. Her extensive discography is diverse and she has often collaborated with other writers and producers. 1990’s self-titled Doro album was produced by KISS bassist Gene Simmons and on 2000’s Calling the Wild, she duets with Motorhead mainman Lemmy on the ballad Alone Again. She also performed on the 2008 track The Seer with ex-Nightwish singer Tarja Turunen who joined a host of metal luminaries including members of the Scorpions, Nevermore and Overkill at Doro’s 25th Anniversary concert in December 2008.

Doro’s latest album Fear No Evil, released earlier this year, is a typically feisty collection of metal anthems from one of the genre’s true survivors.

As I've been a bit busy, and haven't had the chance to post it on here yet, there have been 3 more bands announced!

The Bloodstock team are pleased to announce that US death metal legends CANNIBAL CORPSE have been added to the bill for Bloodstock Open Air 2010.

This is a UK EXCLUSIVE and their ONLY UK SHOW in 2010! which the band are eager to deliver. Says drummer Paul Mazurkiewicz:

"We are extremely excited to be playing Bloodstock! It will be our first ever festival appearance in the UK and we can't wait to tear it up for the masses!" Paul M

Cannibal Corpse were formed in Buffalo, New York, in 1988 and despite virtually no mainstream media exposure, they have gone on to become the biggest selling death metal band of all time. After gigging locally and recording a five track demo, the band were picked up by Metal Blade Records who issued their debut album Eaten Back to Life in August 1990. With tracks such as Edible Autopsy and A Skull Full of Maggots, and gory sleeve artwork to match, Cannibal Corpse courted controversy from the word go. Later years would see their albums censored and banned in many parts of the world, most notably in Germany where for a lengthy period they were prohibited from performing material from albums up to and including Tomb of the Mutilated. 1991’s Butchered at Birth followed a similarly explicit path to their blood-soaked debut and saw the band quickly begin to build a rabid cult following in the underground. Tomb of the Mutilated (1992) and The Bleeding (1994) continued their success, the latter remaining the band’s best-selling album to date. As a mark of their growing notoriety, 1994 also saw the band perform a brief cameo appearance in the movie Ace Ventura: Pet Detective alongside actor Jim Carrey.

1996’s Vile marked the debut of new vocalist George ‘Corpsegrinder’ Fisher who was drafted in to replace the sacked Chris Barnes. Vile was the first death metal album to appear on the Billboard 200 chart, debuting at no. 151. Although their line-up has undergone slight changes from time to time, subsequent years have seen them sticking to their basic formula with only slight technical refinements and continuing to be one of the most popular bands in the genre. Gallery of Suicide (1998), Bloodthirst (1999), Gore Obsessed (2002), The Wretched Spawn (2004) and Kill (2006) all bear the trademark Cannibal Corpse sound, offering visceral horror stories with a savage soundtrack to match. The band’s most recent studio album, 2009’s Evisceration Plague, entered the Billboard 200 chart at no. 66, the highest opening position of their career.

CANNIBAL CORPSE – Butchered at Bloodstock - BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR 2010.

After being forced to pull out in 2009, it is with great honour, anticipation and a touch of nerves that the Bloodstock team can confirm GWAR’s EXCLUSIVE return to the UK. The Grammy-nominated Scumdogs Of The Universe will be flying in from Antarctica to unleash hell on all in attendance. Frontmonster Oderus Urungus warns us of the impending orgy of bodily fluids, nuclear waste and all manner of murder and vulgarity.

GWAR were formed in the US in 1985 and have become best known for their over the top costumes and outrageous stage antics. Although influenced by both punk and thrash, the band’s sound has shifted and evolved throughout their career as the demands of their lyrical themes and stage performances have changed. Their debut album Hell-O was released in 1988 and featured the core line-up of Oderus Urungus (lead vocals), Flattus Maximus (lead guitar), Balsac the Jaws of Death (rhythm guitar) and Beefcake the Mighty (bass guitar), characters which remain in the band today, although their costumes are not necessarily worn by the same musicians.

GWAR have issued many further albums over the years, some varying greatly in style from others, but each characterised by the band’s unique and anarchic sense of theatre and boasting titles such as America Must Be Destroyed, This Toilet Earth and We Kill Everything. Targeting celebrities and other public figures with their black comedy whilst spraying their audiences with gallons of fake bodily fluids, a GWAR gig is a performance quite unlike any other. Waterproofs and wellies are recommended.

The band’s latest studio album Lust in Space was released in August and they are currently backing it up on tour throughout the world and elsewhere. Having been forced to cancel their scheduled appearance at BOA 2009, be sure that their forthcoming Bloodstock outrage will be raucous, mean and totally obscene.

GWAR – Bloodstock Must Be Destroyed - BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR 2010.

The Bloodstock team are pleased to announce that Finnish folk metallers KORPIKLAANI have been added to the bill for Bloodstock Open Air 2010. This will be their ONLY UK SHOW in 2010!

Unlike many metal bands incorporating folk elements, Korpiklaani’s roots are in pure Finnish folk music. In 1993, Korpiklaani frontman Jonne Järvelä formed a folk group called Shamaani Duo. After releasing one album, the group evolved into folk metal act Shaman who issued two albums in 1999 and 2001. Shaman changed their name to Korpiklaani in 2002 before issuing their debut album Spirit of the Forest the following year.

Rejecting synthesizer substitutes, Korpiklaani use violin, woodwinds, jouhikko, djembé and an accordion alongside the usual metal instrumentation of guitars and drums. The early Korpiklaani albums feature English lyrics but the band later retraced their roots and have returned to lyrics sung mostly in Finnish. Favourite topics include nature, history and, of course, drinking beer.

They followed their debut with Voice of Wilderness (2005) and Tales Along This Road (2006), although they still struggled to receive mainstream media attention for their music and were sustained on the road merely by their love of playing. In 2006, however, a slot at the legendary Wacken Open Air festival brought them to the attention of a much wider audience and they received many favourable reviews. The albums Tervaskanto (2007) and Korven Kuningas (2008) built upon this success and in 2009 the band mounted their first ever tours of both North and South America. Their latest album Karkelo soon followed and the band celebrated with a second tour of the US.

The band are eagerly anticipating their return to the Bloodstock stage:

“We are very glad to get a chance to play in Bloodstock Open Air again after few years. Last time was our first festival in England and the audience was wild and good as always there. We are looking forward to the festival very much already, and we hope there is enough cold beer like the last time.”

Anyone who witnessed the band’s rousing performance at BOA 2007 will know exactly what to expect from these fun-loving Finns. Let’s just say that ‘Karkelo’ translates as ‘Party’!

Sorry I've not been around for a while guys - exams and Christmas took there toll.

Got lots of bands for you;

CHILDREN OF BODOM & FEAR FACTORY CONFIRMED AS CO-HEADLINERS FOR BOA 2010

With a host of metal talent already confirmed for next year’s BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR, we can now reveal the first set of headliners for the 10th anniversary event. The awesome pairing comes in the form of Finnish metal monsters CHILDREN OF BODOM and LA Cyber-Metallers FEAR FACTORY.

CHILDREN OF BODOM have defied all odds, breaking out of the so called “Euro-Metal” scene to become one of the biggest names in metal across the globe. 2008’s “Blooddrunk” album saw the band reach new heights, truly being embraced by the metal community, gracing magazine covers worldwide, including that of BLOODSTOCK media partner METAL HAMMER, and a sold-out tour of the UK with BOA 2010 partners CANNIBAL CORPSE. Famed for frontman ALEXI LAIHO’s impossibly fast shredding/soloing, as well as his guitar vs keyboard duels with keysman JANNE WARMEN, COB’s place as headliners of BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR - at their only UK show of 2010 - is testament to how far they’ve come, and is not to be missed. Alexi commented:

"I'm really glad we're playing Bloodstock next year – it's the only UK show for us in 2010, and the crowd over there has been awesome for us lately!"

Originating from Los Angeles, California, Industrial metallers FEAR FACTORY’s appearance at BLOODSTOCK 2010 is one we announce with a huge swell of pride. Coming very close to performing at last year’s event after announcing the reunion of guitarist DINO CAZARES and frontman BURTON C BELL, the band changed plans to concentrate on brand new studio album “Mechanize” which is set for a February 2010 release via Candlelight records. We’re delighted that Dino and Burton will be there this year, not least because completing the new line up will be human drum machine and skin-battering legend Gene Hoglan and his ex-Strapping Young Lad bandmate Byron Stroud. Their set of heavy yet groove-laden digitalised metal will be a treat for those in attendance, and we can't wait to hear classics like “Replica”, “Self Bias Resistor”, “Martyr” and “Edgecrusher” alongside new songs blasted out in the fields of Derbyshire.

LOOK OUT FOR A SPECIAL HEADLINER ANNOUNCEMENT ON FEB 1ST 2010!!!

The BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR METAL FESTIVAL 2010 will take place at Catton Hall, Derbyshire from 13th – 15th August.

*******

Bloodstock are pleased to confirm cult Finns AMORPHIS are added to the bill for 2010. These increasingly progressive melo-death doomsters have received widespread critical acclaim for their latest album “Skyforger”. Topping many end-of year writer’s polls and receiving rave reviews across the board, AMORPHIS are finally enjoying the success the UK owes them, and we’re delighted to host the band’s first ever UK festival performance at this exclusive set at BLOODSTOCK. Says lead guitarist Esa Holopainen:
“We are really looking forward to Bloodstock festival. Last October we did our first UK - live performance in London, which was a great success, so it feels really good to hit the UK again next summer.”

The BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR METAL FESTIVAL 2010 will take place at Catton Hall, Derbyshire from 13th – 15th August.

**************

With CHILDREN OF BODOM and FEAR FACTORY’s co-headline slot announced at the end of last year, BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR 2010 continues to impress with the addition of GOJIRA to the line up. The French Metal monsters will be making their ONLY UK APPEARANCE OF 2010 at Catton Hall this summer. Having ended last year with a mammoth tour of the USA with Metallica and Lamb Of God, the band previously announced that 2010 would see the band take a time off, but have decided to make an exception to be part of this year’s very special 10th anniversary event. With a reputation for fiercely heavy and perfectly executed live shows, GOJIRA’s set promises to be one of the festival highlights, and your only chance to catch the band on these shores this year.

"We're really looking forward to playing the mighty Bloodstock Festival for the first time! It's a great lineup and we cannot wait to kick your ass, England! - Joe Duplantier, Frontman

LOOK OUT FOR A SPECIAL HEADLINER ANNOUNCEMENT ON FEB 1ST 2010!!!

The BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR METAL FESTIVAL 2010 will take place at Catton Hall, Derbyshire from 13th – 15th August.

With a line up already boasting some of the top names in metal, including CHILDREN OF BODOM, FEAR FACTORY, BEHEMOTH, and DEVIN TOWNSEND, the latest addition to the BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR 2010 line up further solidifies an already amazing cast. Finnish melodic metal masters SONATA ARCTICA will be making their only UK festival appearance of 2010 at this year’s 10th Anniversary of BLOODSTOCK. Says keyboardist Henrik “Henkka” Klingenberg:

“Bloodstock is one of the best festivals we've played at in Britain. I can't wait to hit the stage once again as well as check out some of the other bands on this years killer line-up”

Having consistently topped the charts in their homeland throughout their career, last year’s “Days Of Grays” album was rapturously received by the UK, seeing the band shake off their cult status in this country and selling out London’s Islington Academy, causing the UK Rock press to take notice. With powerful and perfectly executed live shows, their set at this year’s BLOODSTOCK will be a treat for any true fan of metal, and one we look forward to immensely.

Heavy Metal Legends HEAVEN & HELL have been confirmed as headline act for BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR 2010. The metal masters have chosen to headline the 10th anniversary of the festival, crowning an already incredible line up, befitting such an important milestone. Living legend/Guitarist TONY IOMMI commented:

“Great for Geezer and me to play somewhere near to home, even better to headline a legendary festival. Thanks for the opportunity!

BLOODSTOCK more than welcomes their appearance. Says founder Paul Gregory:

“10 years of bringing the UK a METAL festival that metalheads can be proud of has just been made better with the announcement of Heaven and Hell. As a fan to say I'm made up with the announcement would be the understatement of the millenniu.m This year Bloodstock has come of age”

BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR is undoubtedly the UK’s most loyal festival to the metal genre. A performance featuring members of BLACK SABBATH - the true pioneers of the genre - at this special 10 year anniversary is an occasion for any metal fan to celebrate, and one the BLOODSTOCK attendees will welcome with heart, body and soul. The promise of RONNIE JAMES DIO, TONY IOMMI, GEEZER BUTLER and VINNY APICE performing classic SABBATH songs such as “The Mob Rules”, “Lady Evil”, “Die Young” and “Neon Knights” will surely be one of the stand out moments in the 10 year history of BLOODSTOCK, and is not to be missed,
